DAY BLINDNESS
DAY BLINDNESS
It means poor vision in bright illumination but better in dim light. In dim light, the pupil dilates and so the peripheral retina is used for vision.
CAUSES:
-Pathological changes in the macula (a yellow spot on the retina at the back of the eye)
-Central opacity of the cornea or lens
-It can occur in association with color blindness, at birth (congenital)
SYMPTOMS:
-Inability to see clearly in day light or bright light but has good vision in dim illumination
-Collides with things in the day but able to move in a better way in the evening or night.
DO’S AND DON’TS:
-Take someone along while going out in the daytime.
-Use dark sun glasses in the daytime
